Laguna Seca - Day One

Well my first day at Laguna Seca is complete. It was an amazing experience. We drove from Monterey to the track. Passing by some sweet Porsches, Corvettes, and Jaguars so we knew we were in the right direction. Once we saw the signed we turned left onto a pretty steep road and I was already getting pumped.

The MX-5 cup had already begun by the time we arrived. They sounded much better than I expected they would. And they looked BADASS!

I was super jealous of the guys who got to race the Miatas. Looked like a blast. Im sure all of you Miata fans are jealous as well. They were a great start to the day.

We walked through the main fan area behind pit lane and headed towards the grandstands opposite pit lane. Not the best seating area at the track I must say. But it was cool seeing the cars pit.

The TUSCC qualifying was SO much louder than the Mx-5 cup was. One of the loudest things I have experienced. The sound of the flat six's though was amazing. Absolutely love the Porsche engine. I was honestly surprised how much quieter the Prototypes were than everything else on the track. Quite amazing. If your wondering what the loudest car was, to me at least, it was definitely the Aston Martins. They are beasts.

After our ears began to hurt we decided to move and experience another section of the track. So what better place to go then to the Corkscrew! Its a pretty good hike to the other side of the track. But we got to see some amazing cars on the way. One of my favorites was the #24 Audi R8. Beautiful!

The Corkscrew is definitely one of my favorite parts of the track. Just awesome seeing the cars get a little air around the bottom. Its definitely a popular spot to watch from. Theres some great shade too! Which was much needed because I am burnt! Tomorrow will be rough.

For the next race, the Continental SportsCar Challenge, we went to the stands between turn 4 and 5. One of the best places to watch in my opinion. You can see them coming from the start and into turn one. And then on into turn 5. A great area to see some passing. Dane Cameron started 15th and finished 4th. He was racing like a mad man. He was in third for a good portion of the race. But right at the finish he got past by an Aston Martin and finished off podium. Huge disappointment. He had the best race of the day. Not to mention his car is amazing looking.

That was pretty much my first experience at Laguna Seca. If you read through this thank you! Ill post more about tomorrow and the main races.

I was out there today also and had a great time. I saw that pass by the Aston from the grandstands, it was pretty exciting stuff

Man I was pissed! I was rooting for Cameron the whole time. Right at the last second. Great for the other guy though.
